On Wednesday, March 27th, we hosted a live webinar,  Start with the Exit in Mind, Building M&A value from startup to exit. The webinar focused primarily on M&A strategies and how to drive high valuation in the tech sector in the shortest amount of time.

Our presenter, TechStrat's Nat Burgess, provided a lot of detailed and very helpful real-world advice on how tech companies can maximize M&A opportunities. Nat is the President of Corum Group Ltd., which specializes in software and information technology (IT) mergers and acquisitions (M&A), and he had a lot to say about some key points, including:

  • Which companies sell? At what stage? Why?  What happens to the rest?

  • M&A is not an option when you need it: putting execution first

  • Aligning shareholders, board, management, and employees

  • Optimizing operations to be “diligence ready."

  • Scripting early conversations with interested buyers

  • Knowing who your potential buyers are - and how you can help them

  • Understand your fiduciary responsibilities - and risks - arising from M&A

  • How to start, manage and complete a process.

  • And, a deep analysis of the single most important strategy that CEOs can adopt to maximize their value, in the shortest amount of time.

Nat was joined by TechStrat professionals Steve Peltier and Michael Bolotin, who went into detail on how to be diligence-ready and use finance as a strategic tool to maximize valuation.
