Meet Brendan Shanny: Software Engineer

This month we’re catching up with Brendan Shanny, Software Engineer at SecureDocs. Brendan plays an important role working to improve the SecureDocs software by listening to customer feedback and incorporating new technologies.

Getting to Know Brendan

How long have you been at SecureDocs, Inc.*?

2 years

What were you doing prior to joining SecureDocs?

I worked as a Research Assistant at the Lee Lab at Harvard Medical School. I was building and designing software and hardware for the laboratory machines used in neuroscience research.

What do you love about what you do?

I’m really drawn to software development by the constant problem solving that is required. At SecureDocs, I really enjoy tackling tough technical problems, as well as simplifying complex user workflows. Finding a solution to a user’s problem in an elegant way is incredibly rewarding.

Why do you think what you do is important to the overall goals of SecureDocs?

As an engineer, the easy answer is developing software, but being an engineer at SecureDocs means I have the opportunity to coordinate with all the other departments in really meaningful ways. From working with the Product team to identify and plan the upcoming features, to helping the Marketing team define the features we build, each team helps and influences the others to form a great company synergy.

What excites you most about the future of the company?

During my two years at SecureDocs the engineering team has radically advanced our frontend technologies and introduced a purpose-built AI pipeline, among other exciting projects. I’m really excited to continue to explore new technologies and integrate them into our product.

What are you doing when you’re not in the office?

I enjoy spending time outdoors whenever I’m able. My go to activities are soccer, hiking, camping, and having friends over for family dinners and game nights.
