44% - percentage of Israeli startups raising fund for the first time last year. A positive indication of forward momentum for the area's industy. (HAARETZ)

 

$40 million - series C raised by marketing software startup Qubit. The round was led by Goldman Sachs and saw contributions from Sapphire Ventures, Salesforce Ventures, and Accel. (TechCrunch)

 

$35 million - new funding for ThousandEyes, a startup that monitors the performance of cloud-based software, from Tenaya Capital, GV, Sequoia Capital, and Sutter Hill Ventures (Fortune)

$3.4 billion -capital raised last year by first-time VC fund managers, matching 2014 despite a 30% drop in fund count (PitchBook)

 

$800 million -target amount for Asian PE and VC firm, SAIF Partners, for growth investments in technology, healthcare, and cleantech sectors. (Deal Street Asia)

 

$110 billion - capital invested by China in renewable energy last year, and now they're collaborating with Canada. (CleanTechnica

 

$100,000 to $1.6 million -amount given to startups by early-stage angel fund, BELLE Capital USA, who specifially targets companies with at least one female founder or c-level executive, based on milestone. (BELLE Capital USA)

3 New Laws - California has passed three new data security laws, and they are already in full effect,  including S.B. 570 (adding requirements to form and content of breach notifications), A.B. 964 (containing a definition of “encrypted”) and S.B. 34 (prescribing requirements for automated license plate recognition systems). (Bloomberg BNA)
